Why are they so big? Do they look normal in RPG maker? Can you try taking a screenshot?

You haven't answered Gelo's question yet, have you managed to play the game yet?

Anyway, just remember that if anyone wants to start resizing 5th gen sprites, it's for sure Venipede will appear in the game (check buckweed swamp posted by jwoo)

Can you post a picture of a fourth gen sprite and a fifth gen sprite from Pokemon Essentials? I just want to see the difference.

I meant to say third and fourth. Sorry. And I want to see the sprites directly from pokemon essentials, not from anywhere else. Upload them if you have to.

k well they are just png files for each sprite so do you mean you want comparisons of the same pokemon just from different gens?

well i was looking through the files and noticed that they only have one of each pokemon, they didnt include one from each gen. however some gen 1 pokemon are remodeled, for example:

Those are already third gen sprites in the games, as seen here and here. At least we know that the sprites have to be double their normal size in order to be compatible.

What about a pokemon that only has a fourth gen sprite, which Game Freak never made a third gen-sized sprite four? Something like Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Bidoof, Starly, etc. (anything from the sinnoh games)

^Double? Do you mean from now on we'll have to make the sprites at double size? Or we just continue making them 65x65 and then we make them bigger. It would be fantastic if we could make the sprites bigger, as drawing them would be much easier!

We're going to continue making them 64x64 and simply double their size in order to fit in with the other Pokemon Essentials sprites. This is how all other sprites are made, to my knowledge. While it would make higher quality sprites of we made them larger, they wouldn't fit in with the official Game Freak sprites.
